The actress even mentioned that when Khal Drogo forced Daenerys to have s*x on the night of their wedding, Momoa cried more than she did because of how bad he felt. «He cared about me as a human being,» she said.
Emilia Clarke is a British actress who had her great leap to fame after playing Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but this process wasn’t easy at all since in the series she had to perform strong s*xual intercourse scenes with Jason Momoa, who played the role of Khal Drogo.
The actress, who was just 23 years old at the time, admitted that those shots, in addition to the ones in which she had to appear naked, seemed «terrifying» to her. In fact, she didn’t even know she would have to do them when she accepted the role.
«I’ve never been on a film set like this before. I’d been on a film set twice before then, and I’m now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don’t know what I’m meant to do and I don’t know what’s expected of me,» she recalled in an interview with the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard in 2019.
However, the person who helped her the most to endure this difficult part of the job was Momoa himself, who contained her the whole time and even helped make it all more enjoyable.
«He took care of me, he really did, in an environment where I didn’t know I needed to be taken care of. Because Jason had experience, he’d done a lot of things before he came to Game of Thrones. He said, ‘This is how it should be and how it shouldn’t be. I’ll make sure that’s not the case.’ So, he would always say, ‘Can we get her a robe? She’s shaking!» she noted.
Clarke even mentioned that they both cried in front of some strong scenes, but that when they had to film the moment when Khal Drogo forces her to have sex on their wedding night, it was Jason Momoa who cried the most.
«I’m only now realizing how lucky I was. That could have gone many, many, different ways. He was so kind and thoughtful and cared about me as a human being,» she finished.
